The Challenge

Tracking prices at scale gives retailers a competitive edge, but collecting in-store pricing data, especially in the convenience and PFS sector, remains difficult. Manual, outdated process is hard to scale, prone to errors, and slow to deliver. As a result, retailers often receive delayed, hard-to-verify data, limiting confidence in pricing insights and making it difficult to react quickly.


The Solution

To address this, Shepper developed SKU360°, a proprietary solution powered by OCR technology and our nationwide community, our Shepherds. SKU360° captures accurate pricing data at scale, while allowing brands to choose the depth of data collected. Beyond price, it also captures back-of-pack details, including ingredients, nutrition, and provenance.


The Results

Working with Shepherds, we tracked 5,484 SKUs across 7 retailers nationwide, giving a clear view of convenience-sector pricing. Insights were delivered through an interactive dashboard, allowing data to be filtered by region, retailer, and time period, and allowing for easy SKU-level comparisons. Every data point was supported by image-based audit trails, adding confidence to the findings.
